Hackney carriage vehicle windows

Everything you need to know about your vehicle’s windows.

Passenger compartments must have side and rear window.  There should be at least one on each side that can be opened manually or electronically by passengers. The control must be clearly marked.

Front windscreen and front side door glass must comply with Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, Section 32.

Tints

These must be:

  • at least 75% light transmission for the windscreen
  • at least 70% light transmission for front side door glass
  • remaining glass should be factory fitted as standard

Tinted films applied to any window and any other aftermarket alterations are not permitted.
