If retrofit emissions technology has been fitted to your vehicle, the technology must have been approved as part of the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS).
A zero-emission capable vehicle can be described as either a:
- battery electric vehicle (BEV) or ‘pure electric’ where a battery is the only power source
- plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) which switches between a battery and an internal combustion engine
- hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) which is known as a ‘full hybrid’ and does not plug into the electricity grid, but recharges while you drive
- fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) which uses onboard hydrogen fuel cells to generate electricity
