Your vehicle must fully comply with:
- Motor Vehicle (Type Approval) Regulations 1980
- Motor Vehicle (Type Approval) (Great Britain) Regulations 1984
- Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986
- The Motor vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1998
- European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval (EWVTA)
As well as these, your vehicle must comply in all respects with British and European vehicle regulations.
It also needs to be 'type approved' to the requirements of M1 (low volume) category of European Whole Type Approval 2007/46/EC as last amended by 2019/543.
Imported vehicles
Your vehicle will not be accepted if it:
- does not meet the vehicle standards set out above
- has only been approved under the British Single Vehicle Approval scheme
Righthand drive
Your vehicle must be righthand drive.
Retrofit emissions technology
Where retrofit emissions technology has been fitted, such as liquefied petroleum gas, this technology must have been approved as part of the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS).
Vehicles that have been written off
No vehicle first being licensed will have been written off in any category and will not be renewed (if previously written off).
