St Vincents Quarter is one of Sheffield’s most distinctive inner city quarters with a dramatic topography and townscape, a strong heritage of metal working and a particular historic association with the City’s Irish and Catholic community. The area has suffered decades of slow decline and dereliction.
Nevertheless, it continues to be an active business area with the renaissance of the city development offering opportunities for substantial transformation and improvement.
The St Vincents Area has potential for the introduction of a richer mix of uses into the area including housing to assist with the areas regeneration.
Following extensive consultation and Sheffield Cabinet endorsement in December 2004, this Action Plan provides a 10-year vision of the area and will be used by the City Council to guide future development in the area. The Action Plan is a material consideration in determining planning applications in the area bounded by Broad Lane, Tenter Street, Corporation Street to the South and East, Green Lane and Alama Street to the North and Netherhorpe Road to the West.
