How to access the eLibrary
Once you're a member of Sheffield libraries, you can register with your library card number and explore our content we have available through the OverDrive website and also the Libby App.
At present, the Libby app is not available on Amazon Fire, but you can access the same great content through OverDrive.
eMagazines
There are hundreds of bestselling magazines to dip into. You can delve deep within a subject or explore new hobbies and interests. Titles include:
- New Scientist
- Hello Magazine
- The Radio Times
- BBC Good Food
Once downloaded, eMagazines are yours to keep forever.
You can also enjoy unlimited reading of thousands of the world’s most popular newspapers and magazines through Pressreader.
They are all available to listen to or read in your chosen language.
eBooks
We have hundreds of free to access eBooks. From old classics to the latest bestsellers, read into history, mystery, romance and other genres without paying for the content.
eBooks automatically return themselves after three weeks. Alternatively you can renew for a further few weeks. There is no risk of fines.
Library loaned eBooks are not compatible with Kindle eReaders as Amazon does not support public library eLending outside of the US.
eAudiobooks
Sit back and listen to free eAudiobooks. These are great escapes for when doing other activities. All eAudiobooks are free to download, so there is no need to pay costly subscriptions.
eAudiobooks return themselves after three weeks unless you renew.
eComics
We have an exciting range of new content available to read alongside eMagazines. Comics include popular Marvel titles such as Spiderman, X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Parents should note that some content is aimed at an adult audience.
eNewspapers
You can enjoy unlimited reading of thousands of the world’s most popular newspapers and magazines through PressRreader.
They are all available to listen to or read in your chosen language.
PressReader
Library members can access free eNewspapers (as well as a few eMagazines too) through PressReader.
There are three ways to access PressReader:
- through our Libby app
- through the PressReader app
- through the PressReader website
How to sign in to PressReader
When you are prompted to sign in:
- select 'Library or Group'
- choose 'Sheffield Libraries' from the list of libraries
You will then need to supply your library card number and pin.
