Local Area Committees (LACs) bring local people into the democratic process and closer to decision making. They give you the chance to:
- influence decision making
- share your opinion
- contribute to positive changes in your community
They're your opportunity to say what you would like to see improved in your area.
Our old LAC webpages are having a redesign. They're being brought under one new website with updated information. In the meantime, if you want information around an individual LAC, get in touch with them through their respective details.
How you can connect with your LAC
There are many ways to make a difference to your community by connecting with your LAC. This could be by:
- signing up to our local / citywide updates through Gov Delivery or the Next-Door App
- sharing your views online or through the area social media pages
- submitting a question or raising an issue with your LAC (in person or online)
- participate in ongoing activities about local priorities and budgets
- contacting your local Ward Councillor / LAC Chair or Deputy Chair to raise an issue
- come along to a meeting to hear local discussions and updates
- live stream the meeting or view a recording to watch a specific section
There may be other ways and activities. You can find out by getting in touch with your LAC.
Our local area survey
Around 7,000 of you took part in our last local area survey in autumn 2021.
Your LAC teams looked at what you told us and were able to see what your biggest concerns were.
Each LAC then made a community plan that was agreed at a public meeting in March 2022. The plans explained the community’s priorities and how the LAC intended to work on them. You can read summaries of them on our Community plans webpage.

The committees do not include:

Councillors will work with residents, businesses and community groups at public meetings to discuss how money can be spent and how the area can be improved.
Find your ward
If you're unsure about which ward you're in, you can find out on our Electoral ward page.
