The Community Right to Bid gives the people of Sheffield the chance to bid, to buy and take over the running of assets that are considered of value to the local community which are being sold by the current owners.
An Asset of Community Value could be land or buildings such as village shop, community centre, children's centre or local pub. These may be owned by ourselves, another public organisation or a private company or person.
For example, your local pub - this might be a traditional building currently owned by the landlord who has no intention to sell. This act would not prevent you or others in the community nominating this asset as being of Community Value.
