You will need to supply us with your Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) driving licence number. When you make your application, we will check your driving licence with the DVLA.

If we can’t make checks, you will receive an email from a company called TaxiPlus for you to give consent to allow us to carry out these checks.

Stage one
Taxi and private hire driver certificate
You will need to take and pass a nationally recognised qualification called the ‘Certificate in Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver’.

Stage two
Knowledge Test
