Applying for a new taxi driver licence

You will need to take and pass a nationally recognised qualification called the ‘Certificate in Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver’.

Driving a taxi can involve long hours on the road and sometimes you need to handle heavy luggage. Because of this, you will need to take a medical assessment which will prove you are physically and mentally fit.
