Christmas opening times 2024: We are closed to all but essential services over the Christmas period. You can still use our online services to report, apply and pay 24/7.
Lunch clubs
A lunch club is a friendly and welcoming place where you can socialise with others and take part in enjoyable activities. You can also volunteer in a comfortable safe environment. There will be a hot meal and refreshments for a small charge.
Lunch clubs are usually independent and run by volunteers. They meet food hygiene standards and regulations. The volunteers are trained in safeguarding to ensure members are safe and looked after.
Transport
If you need help to get to a lunch club, transport arrangements can sometimes be made for you. This is for members who are most isolated and would not be able to make it to the clubs using other means.
Joining a lunch club
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic not all lunch clubs have reopened yet. You can still contact Voluntary Action Sheffield (VAS) to find out and they can put you on the waiting list for when your club does reopen.
If you would like to find a lunch club to join, you can contact Voluntary Action Sheffield (VAS). They run a city wide service to help match people up with local lunch clubs. VAS have recently reopened their referral service and you can contact their referral team on 0114 253 6650. You can find out more about VAS and the role they play in supporting lunch clubs on the Voluntary Action Sheffield website.
Covid risk guidance
Lunch club organisers are working with us, VAS, and Public Health Sheffield to implement steps to help reduce and manage Covid-19 risks. The clubs that have reopened which we support have all completed a risk assessment and implemented precautions for example:
- wearing of masks
- social distancing
- hand sanitiser stations throughout
- members and volunteers should not attend if experiencing any symptoms
- taking a lateral flow test before attending
