Social care learning and development
The HR Learning and Development Service has a wide range of training courses available for people who work in social care organisations from the independent, private and voluntary sector.
We use a wide range of delivery methods, including face to face and virtual sessions.
You can also access our training if you are an Individual Employer employing a Personal Assistant to help you meet your care and support needs.
How to access training courses
Learning is available through our online system, Go Learn, where you will find details about all courses and any costs.
If your organisation hasn't accessed learning and development through us before then you'll need to request an application form from us so that we can assess if you're eligible for our training courses. The requests need to come from the manager of an organisation.
Organisations that have previously accessed our training but don't have user accounts, or Individual Employers employing a Personal Assistant, should contact us for a user account request form.
Learning and development offer
We provide a range of development services, such as consultancy support as well as skill and knowledge based courses.
The learning offer is currently under review, however in the meantime courses are still available on Go Learn.
Skills, knowledge and understanding workbooks
These workbooks provide another opportunity to complete required learning and refreshers. They are an alternative to taught courses and e-Learning, giving learners another route to complete their learning in a variety of subjects.
They will be available to download from Go Learn. The workbooks are free of charge.

Funding
Our HR Learning and Development Service are in a position to support you to access Skills for Care funding, towards the cost of vocational learning. The fund allows you to claim back money towards the costs of workers completing a broad range of adult social care qualifications, learning programmes and digital learning modules. Access to funding is directly from Skills for Care.
Workforce Development Fund
The Workforce Development Fund (WDF) for 2022-23 is a retrospective funding stream from the Department of Health and Social Care disseminated by Skills for Care. It means that an employer must have directly incurred costs for the qualifications or learning undertaken by their staff before a claim is made through WDF on completion of the learning.
The fund focuses on the achievement of qualifications, learning programmes and digital learning modules. It supports the continuing professional development of staff across the adult social care sector in England.
You can claim funding for all of the units completed between 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023, regardless of which provider you use, or which awarding organisation the provider uses.
You must complete or refresh your Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS) accounts) All existing accounts must be updated on or after 2022.
For more information please visit the Skills for Care website.
