Helping you stay independent
Prevention support is there to help you stay as independent as possible. Often simple things can help you stay in control of your life.
How we can help
We can help you find the support you need. When you contact us we will talk to you about the problems you are having, the issues you are facing and what we can do to help. We will search for services that can help you stay independent, safe and well. We can also offer practical support.
We could help you with:
- short-term support to regain or improve your independence
- support to keep you safe in the community, such as personal care alarms
- connecting to community groups that can help you stay healthy. This can range from exercise and weight management to support groups for specific health conditions like diabetes, cancer and depression
- money and debt management and ensuring you are accessing the benefits you’re entitled to
- learning, working and volunteering opportunities
- tenancy support
- ways to reduce loneliness or isolation, such as befriending schemes and community activities like walking groups and leisure activities
- equipment providers who sell items to help with daily activities like getting around the home and getting out and about
- falls alarms, epilepsy sensors and similar devices provided
- family and friends, offering advice or support on how to continue in their caring role
This preventive work is the first step we would take with you. If you need long term help we will assess your needs and look at what other support might work for you.
