Domestic abuse and sexual violence advice and support
In case of emergency, call 999. If you cannot speak, press 55 when you are prompted and listen for more instructions. You'll be able to conduct your whole call in silence if needed.
Sheffield has a range of domestic abuse services that offer support for women, children, young people, and men who are experiencing domestic abuse.
Domestic abuse can happen to anyone. It is not your fault. Don’t suffer in silence. You have the right to live your life free from fear, abuse and violence.
Domestic abuse support
Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS) is the commissioned provider of community support for domestic abuse in Sheffield for women, men and people who are non binary.
You can access support by calling their free phone helpline on 0808 808 2241 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday. On Saturday and Sunday it is between 11am and 8pm.
Safe accommodation
Sheffield has refuge and dispersed safe accommodation for those fleeing domestic abuse of all genders. This is provided by Sheffield Women’s Aid and IDAS.
Get in touch with Housing Solutions if you need emergency accommodation through Help if you're homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Ashiana Sheffield is a specialist service for Black and Minority Ethnic victims. You can seek their support on 0114 255 5740, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Sexual violence support
Hackenthorpe Lodge is the Sexual Assault Referral Centre for Sheffield. They provide specialist medical and forensic services for anyone who has been raped or sexually assaulted. You can call them 24/7 on 0330 223 0099 or book an appointment on their website.
Sheffield Rape and Sexual Assault Centre, provides support for victims of sexual violence. They provide an:
- information line
- Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) services
- counselling service, available via self-referral
ISVA’s can support you to navigate the criminal justice system.
