Childcare provision in Sheffield
As a local authority, we have a statutory duty to ensure sufficient early education and childcare provision for working parents and those in education or training.
This duty applies to parents of children aged 0 to 14, or up to 18 where their child has special educational needs and disabilities.
Childcare Survey for Parents
We are asking parents and carers to tell us about their experiences of childcare by completing our Childcare Survey for Parents.
It covers the newly introduced schemes for working parents of younger children, as well as the Wraparound Programme for primary age children. You can find out how we handle data in our Privacy notice.
This is our latest Childcare Sufficiency Assessment information for 2023 to 2024.
The government also currently offers funding for childcare providers of between 15 and 30 hours childcare per week for eligible 2, 3 and 4 year olds.
On this page, we have provided profiles of childcare provision across the city's 7 planning areas. These show the take up of funded early learning places, as well as wraparound places for older age groups in primary schools.
