In partnership with South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive we are working to reduce traffic delays and improve the reliability of bus services along key bus routes in the city. Reliability is one of the main factors given by people for why they don’t use public transport.
Our proposed measures include the upgrading of bus stops along the length of these routes to make them more accessible and bring them up to current standards by provision of raised kerbs, tactile paving, the introduction of bus stop clearways and, where necessary, the installation of replacement bus shelters.
We have secured funding from the Government’s Transforming Cities Fund to improve the infrastructure for buses and active travel in some areas and corridors in the city.
