We are working on a proposed policy that will set out how we will deal with requests for archaeological fieldwork on our land. The policy will ensure that all requests for archaeological investigation, whether a non-intrusive survey or intrusive excavation, will be properly considered.
Our consultation on the draft fieldwork policy for City Council land is now closed. Thank you to everyone who sent in comments, we will continue working on the proposal with these in mind. Many of the comments relate to the need for archaeological archives to be deposited in a publicly accessible museum or archive for long term curation.
