Deaf Social Group
The Central Library hosts a regular social group for people using sign language. A good opportunity to practice your signing skills. Refreshments provided.

Death Café
At a Death Cafe, people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.

At these friendly drop-in sessions, you will learn how to use a computer, improve your digital skills, and find support using the internet. Everyone welcome.

Drop in and Draw
Relaxed group drawing sessions for adults. All ages and abilities welcome.
Rather than a taught session, the emphasis will be on drawing for pleasure in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. The library will provide the subject, the space and the materials. A great opportunity to slow down, see more clearly and enjoy some me time.

Games Night in the Library
Whether you are a veteran gamer with a Gloomhaven campaign under your belt, or a newcomer to the hobby keen to discover something beyond Cluedo and Monopoly, feel free to join in. Adults of all ages are welcome to join us for an evening of laughter, strategy, and camaraderie.

Play Reading
Play reading is a wonderful way to exercise a love of theatre and literature, discover new plays and socialise with others. No previous experience is needed. We are open to anyone and everyone and you do not have to be an actor to join.

Reading Groups for Adults
A reading group or book club is a gathering of people who meet to chat about a book they have read. They usually read one book a month, and many groups take the book out for free from a local library. You do not have to be an expert, just willing to chat about what you have read.
