Are you looking for a part-time work during school term time that gives you the chance to serve your local community?

If you are reliable, confident and have a positive attitude then we would love for you to apply to join our friendly team of School Crossing Patrol Wardens. School Crossing Patrol Wardens are dedicated individuals who help keep children and their family’s safe on their journeys to and from school and are an important part of encouraging active travel by children and their parents.

No formal qualifications are needed, just a natural rapport with children and adults, alongside an awareness of road safety. If you’ve got the people skills to deal with children, drivers, parents, and school staff, we’ll train you in the professional skills to confidently manage the traffic. Uniform is also provided.

You will work during term-time, with part time hours centred on school opening and closing times, but you will be paid throughout the school holidays because the term-time wage is spread across the year (pro rata). For a post covering 5 hours per week, term time only, the pro-rata salary would be in the region of £2,300 pre-tax, for posts with more hours this would be higher, for posts with less hours this would be lower.

Shifts do vary based on location, but you can typically expect to work twice a day on school days: see below for locations and hours available (hours are fixed):
