We don't use QR codes for parking payment. Paybyphone only operate through the app.
We operate a number of car parks in the city centre in addition to providing on-street parking.
Our parking machines continue to accept cash but additional facilities to pay by chip and pin or contactless cashless payments are available. You can also pay by phone.
Our city centre on street parking restrictions are as follows:
- Monday to Sunday charging from 8am to 8:30pm – no time limits for parking on street
- Blue Badge holders and motorcycles can use pay and display parking for free
- single yellow lines – no parking from 8am to 8:30pm (unless adjacent signs show different times)
Evening rates
Monday to Saturday
Zones 1 and 2 have an evening rate of £2 for parking from 4:30pm to 8:30pm (or £1.45 per hour)
Sunday
Zone 1 has an evening rate of £2 for parking from 4:30pm to 8:30pm (or £1.45 per hour).
Zone 2 has an evening rate of £2 for parking from 4:30pm to 8:30pm (or £1 per hour).

Always check signs at the time of parking in case of any changes, including temporary parking suspensions.
The map doesn't show:
- bus stops
- cycle tracks
- zig zag markings at road crossings
Some other restrictions that don't require a Traffic Regulation Order aren't shown on the map either. These include:
- HGVs being banned from parking on the footway
- vehicles parking more than 50cm from edge of carriageway
- parking in front of a kerb that is dropped (such as in front of a driveway or for pedestrans to cross)
- parking on a section of road that has been raised to be level with a footway, cycle track or verge
