Check your Council Tax band
Each home has a designated Council Tax band which determines how much you'll pay annually based on the value of your home. The Valuation Office Agency estimates the sale price (value) of your home as if it had it been sold on 1 April 1991, and places your home into one of 8 bands with similarly valued properties.

New properties
Please contact us if your property is new and has not been placed in a band yet. You can still make payments against your future Council Tax bill.
Changes to your Council Tax band
Your property may be revalued and put in a different band if you (or a previous owner) have made significant changes to the property, for example adding an extension, demolishing part of your property or splitting your property into two or more self-contained units. Significant changes to your local area, like a new road being built, might also change the band your property is in.
Ask your local Valuation Office Agency if you want to know if changes to your property will affect your Council Tax band.
Appeal against banding
If you believe your home is in the wrong band, you may be able to appeal.
