With David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg helping to spark widespread lively debate about our environment and climate change, across the world, young people, adults, politicians and world leaders alike have been passionately sharing opinion on how best to protect our planet.
Although recycling forms just one part of this complex debate, its importance should not be underestimated, and is something that is in all of our control.
The great news is most of us in Sheffield already recycle, using the blue and brown recycling bins provided.
We want you to consider whether you are recycling everything you can from around your home.
- Squash cans and plastic bottles to save space
- Tops and trigger sprays can be recycled in your brown bin
- Anything plastic, other than a plastic bottle
- Plastic bags
- Flatten your cardboard boxes to save space
- You can put extra paper and card next to your blue bin
- Just make sure it is neatly bundled and tied together and no bigger than your blue bin
- Windows can be left on envelopes
If you are unsure about any items, want to check your collection day or need a replacement bin, find out more here.
