Foster for Aspire
Be part of our new approach to caring for young people

Could you change a young person's future?

Imagine working in a team where young people’s aspirations are at the heart of what you do. Project Aspire is an innovative venture that provides integrated and individualised care to vulnerable and complex young people from one central hub.

Aspire helps young people to stay at home with their families and also provides local, high quality, family-based care for young people who need to be looked after.

We are looking for people to join our specialist team and work with young people who are within or at the edge of the care system.

The Aspire Hub replaces traditional council-run childrens' homes with a home hub that combines residential care with fostering.

Within the hub are a dedicated team of professionals including:

  • residential staff
  • a psychologist life coach
  • a police liaison officer
  • a speech and language therapist
  • an educational professional
  • foster carers… could this be you?

You don’t need to be a foster carer already. If you currently work with children and have the skills, experience and enthusiasm to help shape Project Aspire, we would love to hear from you.

As an Aspire foster carer you will work closely and in partnership with residential and edge-of-care colleagues to ensure more children are placed in foster care or are supported to remain at or return home as an alternative to residential care.

You will play a key role within the hub, looking after young people who need family support to develop their skills and confidence. So that the young person and you can develop a bond, you will also work some shifts in the hub during periods when you don’t have a young person living with you.

You will develop and build relationships with the young person living with you, working alongside the team of professionals around the young person and offering continued support.

Working for Aspire

As an Aspire foster carer you will have all the benefits Sheffield City Council foster carers have. This includes continued support and supervision from a dedicated supervising social worker, access to the fostering team’s psychologist and ongoing training.

Aspire foster carers receive an enhanced financial reward. You will earn the equivalent of a £21,000 per year pro-rata salary (the equivalent of grade 5 council staff). In addition, when a young person comes to live with you, you will receive an additional fostering allowance of up to £191 per week. The young person will also receive a holiday, birthday and festival payment. There are also generous tax allowances for Aspire foster carers.
