Wrong materials placed in bin
We weren’t able to empty your recycling bin because it contained some incorrect materials.
Your blue bin is for paper and card
Your brown bin is for glass bottles and jars, cans and plastic bottles
Please remove any incorrect items and put your bin out on your next collection. If your bin becomes full before you next collection, you can take any extra recycling to a local recycling site.
Alternatively, if this was the first time your bin has had the wrong materials inside, you can ask for a special one-off collection but please be aware that the contents will not be recycled on this occasion.
Overloaded
We weren’t able to empty your bin because your bin lid was not closed and it wasn’t safe to empty.
Unfortunately a number of serious injuries have occurred where attempts have been made to empty bins with their lids up, resulting in waste falling on to the collection operative below. To minimise the risk to employees and to reduce the risk of littering, bins will not be emptied where the lids are not fully closed.
Please remove enough rubbish from your bin to allow the lid to close flat and then put your bin out for collection on your next collection day. Please do not leave any sacks next to your bin as this will not be taken.
You can take extra waste that doesn’t fit inside your bin to a household waste recycling centre, or you can arrange a bulky waste collection.
Bin too heavy
We weren’t able to empty your bin because your bin was too heavy and it wasn’t safe to empty.
Unfortunately, a number of serious injuries have occurred where excessively heavy bins have been placed on to the bin lift, causing them to break and fall on to the collection operative below. To minimise the risk to employees any bins deemed by the collection operative to be excessively heavy will not be emptied.
Please remove some of the rubbish from your bin so that we can empty it on your next collection day. Please do not leave any sacks next to your bin as this will not be taken.
You can take any extra waste to a household waste recycling centre, or you can arrange a bulky waste collection.
Wrong bin presented
Unfortunately you put the wrong bin out on your collection day. Please check your collection calendar and put the correct bin out on your next collection day.
