A project, led by the Sheffield City Council Community Forestry Team, aims to address inequalities in tree canopy coverage across the city.
Although Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in Europe, boasting more trees than people, some areas of the city are blessed with a higher tree canopy coverage – also know as urban tree cover – than others.
To address this, areas with less tree coverage, including locations in the Darnall Ward, have received funding to have more trees planted.
Members of the local community have also been getting their hands dirty, volunteering to plant the trees.
